2024 FSDPA Community Outreach Scholarship Award Winner

  • We are pleased to announce our 2024 Community Outreach Scholarship Award winner, Kerstie Phills! Kerstie is a second year PA student at FGCU. Her recommended charity was Beautifully Unblemished Vitiligo Support Group, a nonprofit organization that works to increase public awareness of vitiligo and offer support services for those affected by vitiligo and their families through education, healthcare, and outreach. FSDPA will be donating $5,000 to this very worthy foundation and Kerstie will receive a $5,000 scholarship

2024 Community Outreach Honorable Mention

  • This year, since we had so many great applications, we also awarded a runner up prize to Keyana Mahallati! Keyana is a PA Student at Barry University, and her recommended organization was the Children’s Alopecia Project (CAP). Keyana has been awarded $2,500 and FSDPA will be donating $2,500 to CAP. Congrats to Kerstie and Keyana and look for next year’s scholarship announcement on our website

2023 FSDPA Community Outreach Scholarship Award Winner

  • We would like to congratulate Ninett Llorente, a first year PA student from Barry University in Miami, FL! Ninett’s recommendation for a charitable organization specific to dermatology was for the Richard David Kann (RDK) Melanoma Foundation.
  • The RDK Melanoma Foundation is a south FL based non-profit that seeks to save lives through the education of children about sun safety. The foundation strives to give the children the skills necessary to make healthy sun safety choices throughout their lives. Another primary mission of RDK Melanoma Foundation is to advocate for school districts nationwide to require sun safety education as part of their curriculum.
  • FSDPA has donated $5000 to the RDK Melanoma Foundation and Ninett has also received a $5000 scholarship award.

CONGRATULATIONS WINNERS

  • Congratulations to the 2021 winner, Savannah Ulmer, from Florida Gulf Coast University’s PA Program!
  • Every year, we open up our FSDPA community outreach scholarship to all Florida PA students, and ask the students for a recommendation for a dermatology related charitable organization worthy of our donation.
  • Savannah’s charitable organization recommendation was to Dermatology Medical Missions, a non profit volunteer organization based in Delray Beach, Florida, that provides dermatology related healthcare services to underserved patients nationwide and abroad.
  • Savannah will be receiving a $5,000 award and the FSDPA will be donating a $5,000 contribution to this very deserving charity. We also hope to partner with Dermatology Medical Missions in the future for hands on volunteer opportunities.
  • This year, we did something unprecedented since we had so many great applications. We awarded an $1,000 honorable mention to Sarah Raymond, a second year PA student at the University of South Florida. Sarah had also recommended Dermatology Medical Missions as her charitable organization.
  • Congratulations again and best of luck to both Savannah and Sarah! Look out for the 2023 Community Outreach Scholarship award application on our website in January 2023!

2023 FSDPA Community Outreach Honorable Mention

  • This year, we are thrilled to also offer an Honorable Mention to Eleanor Ewing, a first year PA student from South University in Tampa, FL. Eleanor’s recommendation was for the St. Pete Free Clinic, a local non-profit that seeks to change lives by providing health care, nutritious food, recovery housing and education for neighbors in need. One of the health care services they offer is to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers in this population as well and ensure the patients get the care and follow up they need. 
  • FSDPA has donated $2500 to the SPFC, and Eleanor has received a $2500 scholarship award.
  • We are very grateful to these two recipients for such great recommendations that allow us to support and give back to our local dermatology community! The FSDPA hopes to partner with these organizations for future outreach events as well.

    amazing recommendations in the past, and this year was no different!
  •  Gabrielle’s charitable organization recommendation was to A Children’s House for the Soul, a non-profit organization which works to empower, encourage, and unite all children and families impacted by skin conditions and birthmarks. This very special organization’s mission is to raise awareness through community education initiatives and provide social,
    emotional and spiritual support to these children, thereby working to make the world a more understanding, accepting and loving place.
  • Gabrielle has received a $5,000 award and the FSDPA has donated a $5,000 contribution to this very deserving charity. Congratulations again and best of luck to Gabrielle!
